There may be 3 reasons for this message:

  • This error could indicate that an OEM version of SOLIDWORKS is in use, and functionality is trying to be accessed that is not available with the OEM license

  • This problem may be associated with an incomplete installation of SolidWorks or service pack application. Running a repair of the SOLIDWORKS installation may resolve this issue.

  • This error can occur if the activation on the machine is in a “hung” state. To resolve the issue, follow these steps:

  1. Deactivate all SOLIDWORKS licenses and restart machine.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet.
  3. Rename the ‘FLEXnet’ folder to something like ‘FLEXnet_old’.
Note that the ‘ProgramData’ folder is hidden folder. You can either use ‘Folder options’ to show hidden folders, or you can type “c:\ProgramData” directly on to address bar and the press Enter to access this folder. From there you will be able to locate the ‘FLEXnet’ folder.)

4.Try again to activate the licenses.
